RoHS & The Environment
Parc Circuit Technology Ltd complies fully with the RoHS and WEEE legislation, we offer a wide range of compliant printed circuit board (PCB) finishes, and can also purchase compliant components if requested.
The RoHS legislation aims to facilitate the dismantling and recycling of this waste by restricting the use of nominated hazardous substances used in their manufacture.
The WEEE legislation will set criteria for the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
If you require more information, see below:
RoHS stands for “Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electrical Equipment” and applies to equipment put on the market from 1st July 2006. The Directive (2002/95/EC) restricts the use of 6 substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and the two brominated flame retardants, PBB and PBDE). RoHS is closely linked to the WEEE Directive and takes its scope from it.
The RoHS and WEEE objective are jointly to improve environmental performance at all stages in a products life cycle. Some of the materials used in electronics can present environmental and health hazards during manufacture or at “end of life” disposal. The EU has therefore taken steps to restrict the use of these materials (RoHS) and encourage the safe disposal or re-use of electrical equipment (WEEE).
