Frequently Asked Questions

PCB Manufacture Questions

1. What PCB finishes are available?
Leaded Hot Air Solder Level, Lead Free Hot Air Solder Level, Immersion Silver, Immersion Gold, Hard Nickel/Gold, any other requirement, just ask!

2. Do you have a one off tooling charge for printed circuit boards?
Yes we do (but this does not include design changes)

3. What range of multilayer's can you manufacture?
From 4 layers upwards, whatever your PCB requirements are!

4. Can you do impedance testing as well as bare board testing?
Yes we can test all printed circuit boards (PCB's)

5. What is the minimum track/gap width you can manufacture?
4 thou, but this is dependant on the copper weight (the higher the copper weight, the higher the track and gap) but we are always improving our capabilities

6. What is the minimum hole size you can drill?
Our smallest finished hole size is 0.20mm

7. My previous PCB supplier occasionally made a mistake of making my PCB's mirror imaged, how can this be avoided?
We have found that a very simple fail safe would be to have company details or a PCB title on the PCB, it would then have to be "correct reading" to be made

PCB Assembly Questions

1. Can you provide a solder paste screen/stencil?
Yes we can.

2. Can we free issue part of the kit and get you to procure the rest of the bill of materials?
You can supply as little or as much as you like!

3. Can you place BGA & QFP components?
Yes we can

4. Can you make the cables for our unit and also pot it afterwards?
Sure, no problem!

PCB Design Questions

1. I have lost my PCB artwork, how can i have my printed circuit boards made?
If you have Gerber files we can re-plot or our designer can re-layout your PCB into Gerber format from a sample provided

2. Can you edit the Gerber files for my printed circuit board?
Yes we can amend your existing Gerber images if you supply us with detailed instructions

3. At the design stage can you maximise "Design for Manufacture"
Yes we can, we take care to ensure that track and gap width, together with pad dimensions will give us the highest manufacture yield
